Cardinals get big defensive push from QBs
The Cardinals’ defensive performance was a welcome sight in Week 3, when they held Oakland to one rushing touchdown and were responsible for only two other QB hits in the contest.
However, they struggled against the run, surrendering a combined 3.3 yards per carry (3.8 yards per attempt).
The Cardinals will be eager to avoid another season in which they surrender more than 30 points in the final three quarters.
Rookie Marcus Mariota is expected to take over as the team’s starter, but the team will be encouraged by his ability to run the football when the offense is struggling.
He finished with an 80.9 rating, which ranks second among running backs.
Arizona is expected go for a long-term run in 2018, when the team has the second-most cap space behind only the Green Bay Packers.
